Katherine Ann(Kay) Marino, (89) died peacefully in her sleep on March 11, 2018 at her home, in Nutley, NJ. She was born to Marie Rose (Della Torre) and Constantino Tomasetti on September 14, 1928, and raised in Bloomfield, New Jersey. She graduated Bloomfield High School with Honors and was married to Salvatore Marino for 63 years until his passing in 2010. They made their home in Belleville, New Jersey, raising their two daughters there. During their lifetime together, their happiest times were the winters they spent in Deerfield Beach, Florida, with visits from their grandchildren. An Active member of the Democratic Party, Kay served as a District Leader in Belleville, for 50 years. In addition to raising their two children, Kay was employed by Eastern Tool & Manufacturing Company for many years. Her friendliness and sense of fairness resulted in her becoming elected as President of the Union at that facility. A generous and loving woman, she was an active member of the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church doing charitable work for many of the Catholic Charities in that Parish. A consummate mother and homemaker, Kay was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Her family will always cherish the memories of her Christmas Eve Celebrations of the Seven Fishes. During the course of her lifetime, this strong, selfless woman was caretaker for her Mom and two sisters. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, meeting friends for breakfast and doting on her beloved grandchildren. With her enormous personality, generosity and selflessness, she was an inspiration to her family and friends. In addition to her husband, Salvatore Marino, she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Tomasetti, and her sisters, Rose Napolitano, Theresa Dascoli, Frances Massimino, and Josephine Tomasetti. She is survived by her brother, Sam Tomasetti, her brother, Louis Tomasetti and his wife, Joanne, her daughter, Kathleen D’Armiento, daughter, Joann Greiss and son-in-law, Thomas Greiss, and grandchildren, Leonard D’Armiento, Jennifer D’Armiento-White and her husband Stefan White, Matthew Greiss, Louis Greiss, Cristina Greiss and Joe, and their daughter, Sage. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. Her daughter, Joann, and son-in-law, Tom, lovingly cared for her the last nine months of her life. The family would like to express their greatest gratitude to everyone who cared for Kay, or kept her company, or made her smile or prayed for her throughout these last months. Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at St. Lucy’s Church, 118 Seventh Avenue, Newark, N.J. Burial will be at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ. The family will greet friends from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Megaro’s Memorial Home, 503 Union Avenue, Belleville, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
